about

Released via Polytechnic Youth Records PY46

Packaged in private press | small run DIY | boot style, with hand numbered, hand stamped sleeves and labels, stickered jackets, inserts galore and (actual) library inner bags.

As with the first Timeholes album, this is a collection of tracks which were recorded as an exercise in limitations. The intention was to record an album using my faithful Tascam 4-Track cassette recorder and a limited number of synths. I like to work quickly, almost like how a child paints. Sometimes that's not always possible when you have big ideas and an over-analytical mind. So I wanted to do something that forced me not to think, where I could just write and record a track in a few hours. Without poring too much over the details or putting too much thought into it.

I love the sound of worn-out tape, it reminds me of the hours I spent as a child listening to my copy of Jeff Wayne's 'War Of The Worlds'. I decided to record the whole album onto the same section of tape, so it gradually got more and more worn out and noisy. The tracks are not arranged in the order that they were recorded though, so the texture varies throughout.

Timeholes 2 was written and recorded in 1 week. It was recorded mostly live.

about

Polypores Preston, UK

Polypores (aka Stephen James Buckley) paints music with a modular synthesizer, drawing influence from ambient, new age, and experimental electronics. It soars, bubbles, crackles, and soothes, in ever-shifting, immersive cosmic landscapes. Dream environments and sonic sculptures.
